Basics in public speaking

Lectern with a table cloth.

Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse

Practice giving the speech in front of a mirror or recording yourself on a camera, and then watch the footage to make necessary adjustments.

Starting a speech

Asking a question that requires more than a yes or no answer but to explain is a good way to entice viewers to your speech and topic.

Preparing for success

Visual aids

PowerPoint presentations are best delivered when the text in the slides supplement your content. It's also good practice to use minimal amount of text and feel free to use pictures to describe a specific part of a speech.

During the speech

The best public speakers make mistakes during their speech, when that happens, don't call attention to your mistakes because it could be a mistake in your mind but if you don't mention it, people won't know.
